All You Need to Know About Bow Tattoos

Submitted on January 12, 2010 No Comment

The number of women getting tattoos is constantly on the rise, as opposed to the past, when tattoos were associated with gangsters and not-so-virtuous women! Nowadays tattoos are looked upon as a form of art and personal expression. Considering the fact that not everybody is fond of a skull or a heart with “Mom” written under it (no offense!), and that women particularly want more delicate and pretty looking tattoos, the fact that bow tattoos have become so popular comes as no surprise.

Bow Tattoos

Women have been wearing bows on their hair and clothes as a fashion statement for ages now, and it is associated with them as a stereotype. Tattoos are considered as a personal fashion statement, so it’s quite logical that they’re making a permanent statement. Instead of spending hours on choosing your clothes, applying make-up, etc, if you have a bow tattoo that is of your choice, then one form of beautification has been taken care of, since after the initial effort (the inking process), it takes no more time to apply, and will also be washed with your skin.

One thing that really matters about a bow tattoo is its positioning. Some people want to keep it concealed, showing it only when and to whom they choose to, whereas some people might want to keep it on prominent public display. This primarily depends on the concerned individual’s personality and how confident they feel about displaying their tattoos, not to mention lifestyle – corporate women do not really want to reveal tattoos at work! Some interesting positions are slender parts of the body, fingers, wrists and ankles, circled with an ink ribbon and finished with a bow tattoo. Another idea would be a bow on your earlobe, it would resemble jewellery. If you’d rather have it covered up, you should consider placing it on your shoulder, lower back or thighs.

Bow Tattoos

Some people mention a tradition that a bow or ribbon tied around fingers used to be used as a reminder. Similarly, bow tattoos can be analogously used to remind you of a special person or event, such as a birthday or an anniversary. Yellow ribbons are tied around trees as a symbol of somebody waiting for the return of a loved one from war or a long journey. Pink bows are used nowadays to raise awareness and support for women suffering from breast cancer. Since these symbols are very strong and powerful, you should think twice and choose carefully, a colour that means something to you and will do so for a long time, while simultaneously reflecting to the world who you are and emphasising your personality.
